Cybersecurity Conventions 1

So, I have a confession to make. I came into cybersecurity with no direction. I know that sounds like a common thing for people to say, but not for me. I was in law enforcement/physical security for 15 years before going to school for my cybersecurity degree. Truthfully, I only went to school because I became so injured over the years that physical security/law enforcement wasn't going to be an option for me anymore. When I decided that I was going to get into cybersecurity I thought, how can I continue to serve my community in some way, how can I make what I need to take care of my family, and what educational options will be quickest for me to gain?

What does this have to do with cybersecurity conventions...? Everything.

Every move I've made in my life up until getting into cybersecurity I had a clear direction, focus, and purpose. In this case though, I was in the blind about the how the industry worked and how I should approach what I wanted to accomplish. What I wanted...? Well, a 9-5, mon-fri, with $60,000 annually, where I could get basic education and just focus on my family.

That was never going to happen.
